Kia ora and welcome to Spotswood College Sport, 2026! An exciting time to be a young person in sport as a nation, region and in particular a school, we evolve our sporting programmes to fit the needs of our rangatahi.
Sport helps to play a key part in the development of our rangatahi as it helps teach many desirable life skills such as teamwork, problem solving, decision making, communication, time and self-management, resilience and perseverance. Alongside these life skills, sport helps give our young people purpose, and a physical outlet for what is becoming more and more a sedentary lifestyle we live.
Our hopes for sport in 2026, is that we can create and provide a sports playing opportunity for all of our students who wish to be involved in sport. We work in partnership with our neighbouring schools, and Regional Sporting Organisations (RSO’s), to ensure we can provide a platform for all young people wanting to participate in organised and recreational sports.
Youth sport is a time when sport is played in its purest form - primarily for fun, and with friends and community. It is also a time when multiple people give up their time to make sport happen. It takes a lot to ensure young people are afforded the opportunity to be involved in sport, so it will be the job of a collective to help Spotswood College Sport thrive in 2026.
