Te Waka Manaaki provides specialist support, through ORS funding, for students with the highest levels of ongoing needs. We have an amazing team consisting of teachers, teacher aides and a range of therapists and specialists, who are committed to best practice and work together to provide an environment where the curriculum fits the learner and where the voice of every student is heard. We focus on structure and predictability, relationships, connections and hauora to ensure that all of our students are ready to learn. We follow the New Zealand Curriculum but adapt and personalise it in order to provide meaningful and engaging learning experiences centred around each student.
Staff in Te Waka Manaaki take a collaborative approach and recognise and value the strength of our partnership with whānau and the wider community. Our aim is to support our students to achieve their full potential in all areas of life, to gain the knowledge and life skills to become active members of their community, living a purposeful life beyond school.
